Hello? Anybody out there? Mom? Dad? Just you two? That’s what I thought. So here it is! Finally! I’ve wanted to start a blog about something for quite some time now. I just haven’t had anything interesting, fun or exciting to blog about. To me, “exciting” has been baking low fat muffins on a Friday night that turn out to be completely edible and would trick anyone (RC) into think they were full fat. Now that’s exciting. And if I decided to share the interesting stuff in my life I would be fired and the real fun stuff I usually can’t remember…KIDDING!... fine, only half kidding. Until now! We have a very exciting, interesting and fun few months ahead of us.
We bought a house! It’s really tiny and ugly; you’re going to love it! Today it stands as a very small 29ft long ugly row home from the early 1900s. Yup- you read that right, 29 feet from the front door to the back door! That’s about the length of an end zone and is basically a shoe box by any other name. Besides being incredibly small it’s also ridiculously old, it still has its original furnace in the basement from 1913! Once we looked beyond the smallness, through the ply wood on the front window and over the green carpet in the living room we saw our dream home, welllll a location for our dream home! In 5-6 months the house will almost double in size, we’ll replace that furnace, we’ll remove the ply wood from the window and it will become our home... along with a few other changes! I bet you won’t even recognize it when it’s done. We’ll document the entire process- from start to finish. The buying, the rehabbing (that’s slang for fixin’ er up), the picking out of fixtures, picking the floors, choosing the cabinets, I’ll show you the things that I try to DIMS (yes, that’s right. an abrev for “Do it myself” would you expect ANYTHING less?). Then we’ll show you the moving in, the decorating, the first party, the first hole in the wall, the first thing Tucker decides to eat/ruin, you know the fun stuff like that!
So sit, stay awhile, check back often and don’t judge. I don’t pretend to be an English major so I will have run on sentences and I will undoubtedly use wrong punctuations? I also know I’m not the best DIYer, so beware you’ll see tons of mistakes. We would love your opinions and we will be leaning on you to be the tie breaker in some cases. We are beyond excited and can’t wait for ya’ll to follow along on this adventure with us! To give you a little insight to what we’re working with here is a little teaser:
